PASIGHAT, May 20: The Arunachal Pradesh Unit of North East Human Rights Organization (NEHRO) has  strongly condemned the failure of the state police department  in cracking the murder mystery  of Ojing Taying, an incident which dates way back to June 2017.
In a press release issued today,  NEHRO  while expressing  anguish  as no headway of the case has been made  so far, has also appealed the state police  to undertake  specialized  and technical investigation to crack the case within a three-month time frame.
It may be recalled that Ojing Taying, a prominent students’ leader of East Siang District was brutally attacked by some miscreants at Niti Vihar Road on June 10,2017  and  later succumbed to his injuries at GNRC Guwahati  after nine days  on June 19. Accordingly, a case was registered at Itanagar PS Vide PS.Case No.146/2017 U/S 341/326/302/34 IPC but as the investigation by state police  SIT was not progressing satisfactorily, the state government transferred the case from SIT to  CBI. But CBI declined to take up the case citing it to be ‘very simple in nature’.
NEHRO in its press release has also  alleged that  the news of transferring the case to CBI  which came out from  CMO on July 7,2018 was nothing more than a political stunt by the government for their own political benefits. And although the rejection letter was dispatched from CBI ACB  Guwahati on December 27, 2018, the family members and relatives of victim were never  informed and kept in dark about the case status. The culprit(s) are  yet to be traced even though the case was registered  nearly two years  back.
Meanwhile, the state police  has announced a reward of one lakh  for anyone whose information might lead  to the solving  of the case. NEHRO Press Release
