DOIMUKH, May 29:  The body of a 14-year-old girl who drowned in the  Dikrong River near Khula Camp on May 26 last was recovered today.
12th National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in its press communique informed that the tragic incident occurred on May 26 last at approximately 1400 hours. Upon receiving the emergency call, a specialized team from the 12th National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), comprising 24 dedicated personnel under the command of Inspector GD Binu Newar, was immediately dispatched to the scene. The team embarked on a meticulous and high-stakes search operation along the challenging terrain of the Dikrong River.
The NDRF team conducted a rigorous search operation over the span of four days, navigating the river's treacherous currents and dense surroundings. Utilizing two boats, the team meticulously covered about 45 kilometers downstream from the initial incident site. Deep divers were deployed at strategic points identified as potential areas where the missing girl could be located.
Despite the formidable conditions and the extensive area to be covered, the relentless efforts of the NDRF team culminated in the recovery of Biki Rachal's body on Wednesday. The recovery took place near Dahghariya Village, approximately 45 kilometers downstream from the site of the tragic drowning.
The successful recovery of the body, while deeply saddening, has provided a sense of closure to the grieving family and the community. Inspector GD Binu Newar and his team have been commended for their unwavering commitment and exhaustive efforts in this critical search and rescue operation.
The local authorities have expressed their condolences to the bereaved family and emphasized the importance of safety measures around water bodies. They urge parents and guardians to ensure that children are always supervised when near rivers and other hazardous areas to prevent such tragic incidents in the future, stated a release.
