Aalo, Sep 25: A day-long mock exercises on earthquake with 7.8 intensity was conducted by the C-Company of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) here at the Circuit House today.
The mock exercise chose the Circuit House as the epicentre and was aimed to make aware of the aspects of Incident Action Plan, Incident Response System and Incident Support Function to each stakeholder with respective roles and responsibilities to be performed during such natural calamities. The District Incident Response Team rushed to Gumin Kiin on call from the Incident Responsible Officer and the Incident Commander directed the Operation, Planning and Logistic Sections to play their assigned roles. Civil police wrested the reign first and NDRF team joined in with sniper dogs to carry out evacuation works.
Coincidentally, a real fire accident also occurred at New Market during the mock exercises and the team which was already in full strength doused the fire within no time. In the debriefing session, Disaster Response Officer-cum-DC, Incident Commander, team leader of NDRF, Safety Officer and DDMO, West Siang conducted a detailed interactive session on mock drill and exercises with the heads of offices. It was further decided to conduct such exercises to put Disaster Management Plans into practices. The entire mock exercise programme was also witnessed by the public. DIPRO
