Tawang, Nov 28: Chairperson of National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) Nand Kumar Sai along with its members Harshadbhai Chunnilal Vasava & Hari Krishna Damor, Joint Secretary Konthang Touthang and Assistant Director SP Meena today reached Tawang on a two-day official tour.
The delegation had a meeting with the members of civil societies, Gaon Burahs, women organization representatives, public leaders and members of Monpa Mimang Tsogpa (MMT) & NGOs here at Zomkhang Hall in the circuit house this afternoon. The members of the civil societies, MMT and Gaon Burahs informed the Commission that local people of Tawang have a very cordial relationship with the Indian army and the only issue is compensation for the land being used for military purposes, a matter which has been pending for long. The other matters taken up with NCST were concern for preservation and protection of indigenous culture and tradition, good connectivity of alternative roads, expediting the process of railways and airport etc.
NCST Chairperson appreciated the concern shown by the civil society in protection and preservation of tradition and culture and assured to take up the issues with the concerned authorities in a favourable way. Commission will be having a meeting with the officers and HoDs at the DC Conference Hall tomorrow. DIPRO
