The long six years dream to shift out from the ramshackle building to the under-construction Soochna Bhavan building at Papu Nallah finds a glimmer of hope for the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, as Parliamentary Secretary IPR Mama Natung has assured to take up the matter with Chief Minister Pema Khandu and DCM Chowna Mein for early completion of the state Soochna Bhavan. Parliamentary Secretary IPR assurance came after he inspected the partly abandoned building along with Secretary IPR Mitali Namchoom in presence of Director IPR Obang Tayeng and Director Printing Tajuk Charu here on Saturday.
After taking stock of the current status of Soochna Bhavan building, Natung expressed dismay that the state is yet to have a proper building for a key department like IPR. Terming IPR one of the most important departments, Natung asserted that he would personally apprise the Chief Minister and Finance Minister to allocate funds for early completion of Soochna Bhavan.
It is said that Directorate IPR has been flogging by periodical notices from the health department for early vacation of the current office as it now falls under State Medical College. Natung informed that Minister IPR Bamang Felix had already announced fund for maintenance of roof leakages at Directorate Printing Office which according to the department is grave threat to costly printing machines in the office. Natung and Namchoom also inspected the roof leakages at Directorate office.
Deputy Secretary and Director of DoNER inspected the site on 6th February 2013 and 1st March 2013 respectively. The executing agency apprised them of delay in work due to non-release of fund. After two years, the Secretary DoNER again inspected the site in 2015 he was briefed about the status of the work by the implementing agency (PWD).
The Secretary Information & Public Relations, Government of Arunachal Pradesh had also written a letter to Director Ministry of Development of NE Region, New Delhi apprising the ministry of the current status of the project and requested the ministry to consider the release of remaining Central Share of rupees 426.94 lacs.
