Panaji, Feb 1: State’s Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs Mama Natung attended the 36th National Games Mascot launch event here on January 31 last.
The event was graced by Union Minister of State for Sports Kiren Rijiju. “For sports to improve in our country, we have to create a better atmosphere for them and there has to be transparency of selection process in sports of our country,” he said.
The launch event was also attended by Union Minister of AYUSH Shripad Naik, Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant, Deputy Chief Minister cum Sports Minister of Goa Manohar Azgoankar, President and Secretary General of Indian Olympic Association, Sports Ministers from Haryana and Tripura, eminent sports personalities like Sushil Kumar and Anju Bobby George. Three Goan footballers-Fortunato Franco, Brahmanand Sankhwalkar and Bruno Coutinho were also felicitated during the event. Goa will be hosting the 36th National Games from October 20 to November 4 this year.
