TEZU, Jan 12: National Youth Day was observed today across the country commemorating Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary.
The day was observed in a befitting manner here at the Tafragam VKV (Girls) where students presented several cultural numbers enthralling parents and guests present on the occasion.
Colonel Rajeev Dingra Commandant 48 BRTF Dimwe appreciated the school for selflessly contributing to the local community. He also advised the students to imbibe the spirit of hard work, inculcating discipline and respecting self and elders. “Student life is to learn and then to serve society”, the commandant said.
Principal VKV Tafragam while highlighting the school annual report brought to light the life of Swami Vivekananda who she said represented India and Hinduism at the 1893 World Parliament of Religions, and “it was at that time that he became an inspiration to much of India’s youth and had a great influence on the West and other parts of the world.”
On National Youth Day, special events are held at VKV Tafragam and also at Tezu VKV.
