PASIGHAT, Jan 12: National youth day celebration commemorating Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary was celebrated under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme at the DC’s conference hall, Pasighat today in presence of Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu, DD ICDS M. Gao, Dr. Jonny Darang and all the associated members of BBBP of East Siang district.
Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu on the occasion appreciated the concerned department and members for sensitizing on street children’s life and sex determination offensive Act before the gathering. He said that a girl child is boon to society since today’s girl can make an impact and are capable to build a more vibrant society. A mother only can teach her child the values of love & care and can instil into their child good morals and ability to live a good life which leads to a vibrant and quality society, he added.
Earlier, Dr. J. Darang gave a presentation on “The Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex selection) Act, 1994 (57 of 1994) and further added that Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Act 1994 under which sex determination is considered as criminal offence and shall be liable to penalty as well as jail term for those found involved in sex determination.
DD ICDS Machi Gao provided a comprehensive overview on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme and also ushered the importance of the celebration and highlighted the life history of Swami Vivekananda and his motive in life to work for world peace & progress. She emphasised and sensitized about street children who are deprived of everything and live in worst condition. It should be our prime role & responsibility especially ICDS and other associated departments as a protector of the street children in pushing them for availing every constitutional right, added Gao.
