Aalo, Jul 30: The maiden meeting on Renewed National TB Control Programme which saw the felicitation of all ‘TB Champions’ was held here at the Conference Hall of DC Office under the chairmanship of West Siang ADC, C. Chukhu on July 27 last.
ADC opined that to fight TB which is a common disease prevalent in the society, intensified screening tests followed by systematic treatment available free of cost along with countering of the social stigmas and taboos associated with the disease are the solutions. West Siang DMO Dr. Moli Riba and MO Yomcha Dr. Jumge Padu stressed on zeroing the defaulters gradually and disclosed that immunization mapping for the district is being worked out comprehensively.
DTO Aalo and Member Secretary RNTCP Dr. Karmar Dirchi for four districts dwelt at length on the importance of forums, types of TB, community based TB activities, patients support services, awareness creation & prevention of TB, social support, institutional structure, community empowerment etc. through a Power Point Presentation. Despite best effort, 40% of people who develop TB in India are still either not diagnosed or are not reported and the 2025 deadline of total eradication of the disease from the country as set by the central government is going to be a tough task ahead, he said.
