Rono Hills, Oct 17: Department of Hindi, RGU is organizing a two-day National Seminar on ‘Lok Kalayein Aur Siksha’ (Poorvottar Ka Vishesh Sandarbh) that was inaugurated today by State Assembly Speaker P. D Sona in presence of a huge gathering of academicians from across the country.
The seminar is being organised in collaboration with Bhartiya Sikshan Mandal, New Delhi, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute for Asian Studies, Kolkata and National Sindhi Language Development Council, New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Speaker said that  despite Arunachal being a very rich state in terms of folk arts and traditional knowledge system, these traditions are yet to be recognized by the rest of the world. He asked the gathering of intellectuals and academicians to explore the value of art and folk art and traditional education in an academic approach and exhorted them to come up with solid methods for preservation and exploration of the traditional knowledge system. 
National Secretary, Bhartiya Sikshan Mandal, New Delhi,Mukul Kanitkar highlighted the folk tale and folk art of the state that reveal the life and purpose of the Arunachalee life. He also emphasized that by making videos or through electronic media alone, the rare folk art traditions cannot be saved and a more futuristic view must be taken in this regard. 
Pro Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU, Professor Satyakam in his speechdifferentiated the Indian folk elements from the British ones and their related aspects. RGU VC Professor Saket Kushwaha, as the chief patron of the occasion expressed his views revealing how the colonial masters have deliberately framed the education system that would actually prevent the nation from rising to the desired heights.
Chancellor of Baba Saheb Ambedkar University, LucknowDr. Prakash Bartunia, Vice-Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal Professor Premjit Singh, Director, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute for Asian Studies, Kolkata Dr. Sashi Kumar were among others who spoke.
