ITANAGAR, Feb 22: National Deworming Day (NDD) was launched today in multiple districts of the state by the respective District Administrations.
In Papum Pare district, NDD was launched at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Doimukh by the District Medical Officer Dr Subu Tasso Kampu.
DRCHO Dr Worar Taku, DANO Dr Tania Raju, MO I/c CHC Doimukh Dr. Lobsang Chuki, staff and local beneficiaries were present on the launch event. 
DMO highlighted about NDD and the awareness on deworming and  called upon MO i/c to actively monitor and supervise all ANMs, ASHAs and AWWs in implementation of the programme to ensure that no beneficiary is left out. She also urged upon all to work with missionary zeal at community level in order to achieve better performance compared to last year’s 94% coverage in the district. Further, she stressed upon spreading more awareness among people on doses, benefits and its negligible side effects besides calling for maintaining proper health and hygiene to avoid worm infestations. She also administered Albendazole tablets to the children as a part of the event.
In Tirap district, National Deworming Day was launched today at Don Bosco Youth Centre Khonsa by Deputy Commissioner P. N. Thungon.
While launching the NDD, DC urged all mothers to practice healthy lifestyle by maintaining cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene, adding that deworming is an essential measure to reduce the burden of malnutrition and anaemia by lessening the worm load in body which in turn will improve the overall health of children. DMO Tirap Dr. K. Mossang gave details about the importance of NDD and appealed the parents to come forward and allow their children to be administered a dose of Albendazole tablet. She further explained the medical points of the doses. A total of 134 children were administered with Albendazole on the spot by the DC.
The programme was also attended by the EE (PHE & WS), HoDs, CDPO, DVBDCPO, DSO(IDSP), DPMN, staff and Father of Don Bosco Youth Centre, its teachers, students and their parents.
National Deworming Day is observed to deworm all children aged 1-19 years to improve their overall health. DIPRO
