Tawang, Dec 24: National Consumer Day was observed today by the Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Affairs, Tawang here at the Yura Tsangpo(New Bazaar Tawang) participated by traders and general public.
DSP Tawang Dr. Thuptan Jambey attended as Chief Guest along with other officers and various consumer related issues were discussed with the public and traders. Inspector LM&CA Cum District Consumer Protection Officer Kesang Tashi gave awareness briefing on Consumer Protection Act 1986 and other related acts and informed about Consumer Forum Tawang and its role with reference to recent cases and judgments. DSP informed about the role and duties of traders as well as consumers and explained the provisions for protection available to consumers under the act and the penalties thereto.
Members of the Bazaar Welfare Committee and other traders also actively participated in the discussions and clarified doubts from the officers. DIPRO
