Namsai, Jun 5: In the wake of sudden spike of Covid-19 cases in neighbouring Changlang district, Namsai District Administration on Friday sealed the Namsai-Changlang border putting complete restriction of all inter-district movements barring medical services and transportation of essential commodities.
Namsai DM RK Sharma exercising the powers conferred under 144 CrPC through an executive order has restricted complete movement of vehicles and persons from Diyun, Miao and Bardumsa Circles as a preemptive measure to prevent the virus spread in the district. “After return of stranded persons from the rest of India, Changlang has seen an alarming rise in cases which is 28 till date whereas it's 2 in Namsai. Only medical services and movement of essential commodities will be allowed with prior permission from the concerned district authority,” DC said and added that those violating the order will be punished under IPC.
Meanwhile, Namsai DA is taking measures to handle a possible spike in cases as the influx of returnees into the district increases. “We have made a separate Covid Care Centre near the new Multipurpose Cultural Hall. The new returnee aged 23 who has been detected positive is asymptomatic and we are closely monitoring both the positive patients and the frontline workers are ready to deal with the crisis,” Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Namsai Dr A Wailong informed.
