BANDERDEWA, Feb 23: The 35th Nyokum Yullo festival is in full swing at Banderdewa Nyokum Yullo ground, organized by the Banderdewa Nyokum Yullo Celebration Committee (BYYCC). 
Today marked the Namlo opening ceremony, graced by chief guest Tana Yami, a dedicated public leader and Seva Bharti Arunachal worker, with Margin Taji as the guest of honor.
Addressing the gathering, Yami emphasized women empowerment and entrepreneurship. She encouraged the state's youth to prioritize education, sports, and culture, urging them to contribute positively to the state's development. 
Yami called for a pledge on Nyokum's auspicious occasion to focus on state development and foster self-reliance among youngsters.
Highlighting Nyokum's cultural significance to the Nyishi community, Yami underscored the importance of celebrating it authentically, preserving ancestral traditions. 
Expressing her political views, Yami advocated for women's active participation in the 2024 assembly elections, aligning with the government's messages of empowerment and equal opportunities. 
She urged women to be prepared for active roles in societal development if given the opportunity.
