ITANAGAR, Jun 24: NABARD General Manager Dr Gopa Kumaran Nair today called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu and apprised  him about the current role and activities of the bank  in respect to the overall agri-economic aspirations  of the state.
Chief Minister praised NABARD for delivering  adequate benefits through the supported schemes and highlighted the recommendations that came out from  last year’s 'State Conclave on Perspective Planning for Resurgent Agriculture & Allied Sector in Arunachal Pradesh', jointly organised by Government of Arunachal Pradesh and NABARD and urged for its early implementation. He further suggested participation of NABARD in the meeting meant for developing long-term road map on June 27 next, which will be headed by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein.
NABARD GM requested the CM to take necessary steps for enhancement of borrowing power under article 293(3) to utilise the loans already sanctioned under Rural Infrastructure Fund. In view of low level of credit flow in agriculture, it was suggested that initiatives like suitable One Time Settlement Scheme, a credit guarantee scheme, accelerated role of cooperatives, etc be initiated  and as the co-operative sector is in need of a revamp, the state government should  set up a Committee/Study to evolve a suitable development plan in this regard.
CM while expressing  happiness about the initiatives taken up by NABARD, urged them to work more closely with state government for overall development of Arunachal Pradesh. CMO
