RONO HILLS, Mar 14: The maiden Pre-Myoko Festival was organized today by the Apatani Students’ Union Rajiv Gandhi University (ASURGU) here at the university campus ground.
Clad in traditional dress, students thronged the festival venue to witness the first-ever Myoko celebration in RGU. Minister, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry etc Er. Tage Taki who after attending the varsity’s 2-day national seminar also took part in the celebration.
RGU VC Professor Saket Kushwaha while lauding the students’ organization for organizing the event in a grand way, exhorted them to conduct it annually and urged the students to involve the senior members of the Apatani community during the festivity to make it more memorable.
Appreciating ASURGU for initiating the festival which is celebrated every year by the three communities namely Diibo, Hari-Bulla and Hong of Apatani Plateau for well-being of the community and mankind as a whole, he briefed the importance of maintaining traditional values.
Various cultural programmes and feasting marked the day-long celebration.
