NAHARLAGUN, Jun 4: Department of Agriculture of the state has signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with the National Bureau of Soil Survey & Land Use Planning(NBSS & LUP), North East Regional Centre, Jorhat to initiate Soil Resource Information & Land Use Planning in Arunachal Pradesh.
The MoU was signed by the Director of Agriculture on behalf of the state government and jointly signed by the Deputy Director General, ICAR, New Delhi and Head, NBSS & LUP, which is an Indian Council of Agricultural Research organization under Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India.
The project aims at formulating a consistent Soil & Land Use Plan which shall act as the basis of land use planning for judicious and optimum use of land resources of the state. This is expected to guide the departments which are taking up land based activities particularly Agriculture, Horticulture, Livestock etc and go a long way for efficient planning of climate resilient crop diversification activities.
