PASIGHAT, Nov 3: Continuing with their efforts to fight against the growing menace of drug abuse, Women Against Social Evils (WASE) along with Ruksin and Jonai police had nabbed a habitual drug peddler from Jelom village in Assam along the Assam-Arunachal border after a joint operation.
As per WASE sources, on Friday night last at around 7.30 pm, one Lengeri Buri alias Miti Moyong and her husband Mente Pait were arrested from their house at Jelom for selling drugs to a minor boy from Arunachal Pradesh. The arrests were made in a joint operation by Ruksin police, WASE and Jonai police. The drug peddler Miti Moyong is known as Lengeri Buri by her customers and many of them, mostly minors confessed that they bought drugs from her. It can be recalled that two years ago, WASE approached her to stop selling drugs but she continued with her business till date.
Finally, the joint operation conducted by Ruksin Police led by OC, Thungon Tali, Jonai Police led by SDPO Rituraj Doley, Inspector, OC Jonai Bhim Kanta Pegu and WASE team led by its President Yamik Dulom Darang successfully nabbed the ‘Most Wanted’ with seizure of 5-gram brown sugar worth Rs 5000.
