ITANAGAR, Mar 15: Mopin Festival 2020 celebrations here  at the at Mopin-Solung Ground was commemorated on Sunday with the opening of a sports competition by Chief Guest, SP Capital Tumme Amo amid a colourful atmosphere organised by the Mopin Festival Celebration Committee Itanagar-2020 (MFCCI 2020) led by its President Marken Kadu and General Secretary Er. Marbom Bam.
The members of the Galo Welfare Society (GWS), Mopin Preservation Society (MPS), all Popir Parties (Mopin troupes) of Itanagar, senior citizens and youths welcomed the Chief Guest through a colourful Ponu (folk dance) performed by the ladies. A formal session was convened by MFCCI 2020 wherein the Chief Guest was felicitated with a traditional Mopin Coat and Nabam Sumpa Amo was felicitated with a traditional Galo Sarong. MFCCI 2020 President thanked him for his presence and generous contributions to the festival. SP declared the games open by formally cutting the ribbon of the volley ball. General Secretary, MFCCI 2020 proposed the vote of thanks.
As a part of the celebrations, all Popir Parties would compete in various sports & game events which would be followed by a cultural competition and a ritualistic culmination from April 5 to 7. MFCCI PR
