LAZU, Dec 16: A monitoring team visited various sites of Lazu Circle today where alternative scheme to opium cultivation was implemented in the year 2018 in order to eradicate opium cultivation from the area.
Interacting with the beneficiaries, the team advised them not to reengage in opium cultivation in future and stressed on the ill effects of its consumption on society and the legal provisions. Farmers were also encouraged to involve in cultivation of horticulture crop which would also aid in their economic growth.
The team comprised of JDH (Temperate Zone) Narang Tani, HDO Itanagar Daniel Nabam along with DHO Khonsa Henrik Basar.
