PASIGHAT, Sep 16: The first batch of students of model residential school began today with initial intake capacity of 14 students in Class VI and 24 students in Class IX in the hostels at Govt. Sec. School, Gandhi, East Siang District.

Students and parents are happy and satisfied with the arrangements of the hostels and classrooms. The parents who escorted their wards to the schools expressed their thankfulness to the department and state government for establishing the model school, which till recently was a distant dream for students who couldn’t afford costly private schools.

The school was formally inaugurated by Dr Madhu Rani Teotia, Secretary Education who was accompanied by Director Elementary Education on September 11 last. Dy. Director of School Education, Jongge Yirang, informed that, due to shortage of residential accommodation the full intake of students could not be accommodated this session.

Besides daily classes, coaching facilities be also provided to the students, added Yirang who is leaving no stone unturned in furbishing and improving the education system of the district.
