Ziro, Jul 6: Ziro Police has finally nabbed the team of thieves who were responsible for selling stolen items in and around the Ziro-Hapoli township using the popular online marketing platforms.
On May 29 last, a theft case in a Hapoli Market mobile shop was registered at the Ziro PS and accordingly, SI Pansam Mirip was entrusted with the investigation. It was a difficult case to crack since there were no CCTV footages or any other lead that could provide clues. However, the IO under constant guidance of OC Taba Rocky and DSP Takir Zirdo analysed the IMEI and CDRs of the lost mobile phones which were finally traced at Ziro and Itanagar. After scrutiny of technical inputs the team zeroed in on three suspects and arrested all of them from Itanagar and recovered the stolen items.
After sustained interrogation, the trio Bagik Tatu (18 yrs), Harokanto Dolley and Martum Murtem (18 yrs) revealed that they broke open the mobile shop, stole the mobile phones and sold them by placing advertisements on popular online platforms using fake IDs.
They also admitted they had committed such offences in the past which somehow went unreported to the police. Investigation of the case is on and according to police, more recoveries are expected. DIPRO
