ITANAGAR, Jan 4: Reiterating its earlier demand for action against embezzlement of fund through false bill, the Kargu Kardi Students Union (KKSU) today submitted a 30-day ultimatum to the West Siang district administration demanding construction of community hall at Liromoba and action against those involved in misappropriation of fund amounting to rupees 30 lakh meant for its construction.
Few officers and individuals allegedly withdrew the amount of Rs 30 lakh under state infrastructure development fund (SIDF) scheme 2016-17 showing an already existing structure—gaon burah dere— executed by the PWD as proof for falsely claiming the bill.
Citing RTI information, KKSU claimed that under the influence of Nyamo Karbak, the younger brother of sitting MLA of Liromoba constituency Nyamar Karbak in collusion with the project director and other officers of DRDA, Aalo siphoned off the fund.
Seeking action against the erring officers and individuals involved, the union divulged that within nine days the said project was completed and bill withdrawn without any physical work on the ground.
The work order Vide No CD(PIG)324 /2017 (SIDF) worth Rs 30 lakh was sanctioned on 22 March 2017 and notice to proceed with work order in favour of contractor Bili Potom was issued on 29 March 2017. Thereafter, the finance and physical completion report of the same was submitted on 31 March 2017 by the Project Director DRDA Aalo, KKSU alleged.
KKSU further stated that representations have been submitted to the DC including the Chief Secretary on September 5 last but no action has been initiated so far. Threatening to launch democratic movement on non-fulfilment of their demands, it sought immediate construction of community hall at Liromoba within 30 days, suspension of erring officers, black listing of the firm in question and appropriate punishment.
