New Delhi, Jun 17: Legislators of Upper Subansiri today called on the Minister of State (Independent) (Sports & Youth Affairs) Kiren Rijiju here at his official residence and congratulated him on becoming Union Minister for the second consecutive time.
Minister (Tourism, Transport & Civil Aviation) Nakap Nalo, MLA (Daporijo) Taniya Soki, MLA (Dumporijo) Rode Bui and MLA (Taliha) Nyato Rigia drew Rijiju’s attention to several issues plaguing Upper Subansiri district. The three major issues that were discussed in detail were the development of Paka-Mebi-Geko National Highway, which is a major lifeline of the district connecting neighbouring Assam, revival of the two existing but currently non-functional NHPC hydropower projects in Menga & Nava and upgradation and maintenance of Taliha-Tato road, a major inter-district thoroughfare under Border Roads Organization.
The MoS while welcoming the suggestions of the legislators said that he would extend his full support and do the needful to revive these projects. Dept. of Tourism Press Release
