DIYUN, Jun 25: MLA Somlung Mossang on Thursday distributed free rice under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Scheme to the beneficiaries at Diyun.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the MLA while reiterating state government’s commitment to look after the needs of the downtrodden during the current critical situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, stated that the scheme is solely aimed at mitigating the hardships of non-ration card holders, the worst sufferers during lockdown. Speaking on the occasion, Sub Divisional Food and Civil Supply Officer Gumrong Singpho informed that under the scheme, Diyun township and Sompoy areas had been covered today and the process will continue until all the deserving beneficiaries are covered. “In all, 229 members from 60 households in Diyun availed the benefits consisting of 3.83 kg rice per person for a family comprising 4 members and 15.5 kg rice for a family having more than 4 members,” he informed. “Our objective is to reach out to all the non-ration card holders of around 40 villages under Diyun Circle and the rice would be distributed in all working days except Sunday till full coverage is achieved,” Singpho said, adding that 6706 households in the Circle would be covered under the scheme.
The MLA was accompanied by EAC Diyun Jacob Tabing and senior public leaders.
