DARI, Oct 25: “Special emphasis would be given to make Lepa Rada District, a sports hub in future for all the talented sportsmen of the district to excel in their respective disciplines,” said 29-Basar assembly constituency MLA Gokar Basar during the inaugural ceremony of 32nd Ego Valley Open Tournament (EVOT) at Dari on Friday.
Basar who was the chief guest on the occasion also emphasized on the necessity of developing the sports infrastructure of the district for the budding local sportsmen. Citing examples of commonwealth weightlifting champion Kojum Taba and world kickboxing champion Jummi Basar from the district who have excelled well in the international arena while representing the state and country, MLA brought in the importance of individual sports. He further informed that a boxing academy and table tennis hall have been provided for the individual sports to grow.

On the occasion, the MLA also flagged off a mortuary van cum patient transport vehicle which he bought from his salary loan for the people of the district to be used during the time of need. “The common public who mostly face difficulties in transportation especially in taking the patient to outside of the state for medical cases, the van is dedicated to them,” he told.   
While informing about the decision of adopting ‘one district, one product’ in the agriculture cum horticulture field, Gokar said that Lepa Rada district can adopt chilli production under the said scheme which can also curb the problem of unemployment. He also informed that after a healthy discussion with the chief secretary of the state, the CS has assured of providing cold storage at Dari, Basar and Tirbin. The marketing strategy will be planned by the concerned authorities too, he added.
In the meantime, Gokar has assured of looking into the demands under the memorandum given to him during the program. He informed that the demand of a police outpost in Dari has already been informed to the Home Minister and CS. DDSE has been already directed to provide subjects teachers for PCM and PCB students under CMSSY scheme etc.
Giving maximum importance to the road connectivity problem of the district, he said that road connectivity to the interior most areas of the district is also under the agenda and has requested everyone to not create any hindrance in achieving it. “15 years, district has lagged due to individual politics but now, the time has come when we need to unite together for the overall development of the district. I request people to avoid bringing politics in the process as it only hampers the growth,” Gokar requested.
Meanwhile, in the inaugural football match, Tirbin United out casted Rote Football Club by a score of 3-0 goals in the penalty round.
Lepa Rada deputy commissioner Duly Kamduk and Doimukh SDO Mokar Riba were also present during the occasion as guest of honour and special guest respectively.
