PASIGHAT, Jun 9: In a commendable gesture, residents of Mirem, which is the largest village of East Siang today constructed ten quarantine homes alongwith individual toilets for returnees amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Bilat Govt. Hr. Sec. School was converted to Institutional Quarantine Centre by East Siang administration for returnees of six villages under Bilat circle but after announcement of exam of Class-XII for remaining papers to be conducted by CBSE in between July 1-15 and also the state education department’s decision to re-conduct of failed subjects for the failure students of class lX & Xl, a consultative meeting was held under the chairmanship of the DC Dr. Kinny Singh few days ago wherein it was decided that the school building would be vacated after 20th June for smooth conduct CBSE examinations and village heads were urged to manage alternate arrangements for returnees. Under supervision of the village secretary Obang Mize, villagers have constructed isolated 10(ten) Home Quarantines along with 10(ten) Toilets on self-help basis. According to the Govt. HSS Principal Tagin Taran, each segment of the total five have constructed two individual HQs and two toilets. Each family of the village provided one bamboo and ten toko (palm) leaves and also actively participated and completed construction works today. DIPRO
