Aalo, Feb 8: Minister Industry & Textile Er. Tumke Bagra today inaugurated a Minor Irrigation Channel spanning 2.20 km at Doji Village which has been executed by the WRD with source from Sipu River having a command area of 246 acres to benefit 94 families in the downside areas.
The said asset was formally handed over by EE WRD Er. T. Tasing to the villagers represented by the President of WUA Miyi Rao, Tummin Karcho during a function held at the Wet Rice Cultivation Field.
Industry Minister said that primary objective of the channel is to tap water from the Sipu river to ensure irrigation facility to meet the growing demand of the people and urged all to make sure that there is an equitable distribution of water. He also appealed all to shed political differences and come together while dealing with developmental issues and disclosed that he is in touch with the missionary school authorities in the area, provided people donate suitable land for welfare of school children and select capable PRIs who can work for the cause of the area.
Chief Engineer WRD Er. Likar Angu said all maintenance works resulting from erosion, leakages of water etc will be looked into from time to time and people should keep in touch with the leaders and officers to facilitate more people-centric schemes. DIPRO
