 ITANAGAR, Mar 8:  Minister for Agriculture, Trade & Commerce, DoTCL and Fisheries,  Wangki Lowang chaired a  meeting and reviewed  progress of implementation of various State funded and Central Sector Schemes under Agriculture sector during the current financial year 2017-18 with the Secretary Agriculture and officials of Agriculture Department today.

During the meeting, Secretary, Agriculture, YW Ringu, briefed about the progress of various schemes and latest position of release of funds and utilization of 2017-18 and physical progress thereof.

 The Minister impressed upon the officers to streamline the administrative mechanism for effective implementation and monitoring of the schemes so that tangible results are visible in the farmers’ fields.

He also stated that from April’2018 onwards he is intending to undertake field visit to ascertain the impact of the schemes implementation. He also reiterated that the entire extension functionaries of the Department must be activated to maintain close coordination with the farmers as well as the peoples’ representative so as to ensure higher productivity and enhance farmers’ income which is envisaged to be doubled by 2022 – 2023.
