NEW DELHI, Jun 19: Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein called on the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and New & Renewable Energy, etc R K Singh at his office in New Delhi today.
During the meeting, Mein apprised the power scenario of Arunachal Pradesh to the Union Minister and they discussed several issues for development of hydro-power and robust power system in the State. He briefed Singh about the technical problem in the Kameng Hydro-Power (600 MW) which needs to be solved immediately for early commissioning of the project.  Informing that all formalities for Dibang Multi-purpose (2800 MW) project has been completed, he pressed for early start of the project. He also informed the union minister that the hydro-power projects of 22 power developers in the State were terminated due to their inability to make progress in the project even after years of signing MoU between them and the State government.
He further requested the Union Minister for early release of fund under Saubagya and DDUGSY of the preceding year and the need to expedite the Comprehensive Power Transmission Scheme. He also requested for a package from the Centre to replace and renovate the old infrastructure for ensuring uninterrupted power supply system in the State. He also requested to take two transmission systems from Kopi-Tawang and Rupai-Namsai under the Transmission scheme as it could not be taken up under NLCPR. 
Union Minister assured all support and cooperation for robust development of power system in Arunachal Pradesh. He said that two machines of Kameng Hydro-power project will be made functional soon and the rest two after six months. He also assured for early start of Dibang Multi-Purpose project.
