KAMBA, Jan 12: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated the (3x2) MW Siru Small Hydro Electric Project here at Goli Balek in West Siang district on January 11 last. 
Mein while reiterating Arunachal’s huge hydro-power potential which is in tune of up to 40,000 MW, stressed on tapping the resources by developing large and small hydroelectric projects wherever feasible. Informing that lots of power developers are showing interest to develop hydro-projects in state, DCM added that after completion of projects like 2800 Dibang Multi-purpose Project and 1750 MW Lower Demwe Hydro-Electric Project which have received clearance from  GoI, state would attain self-reliance in power along with  generation of  huge revenue. Rs 10 crore had been allotted in 2019-20 budget for strengthening of transmission and distribution system for downstream missing links of 33KV and 11KV lines to connect with the infrastructure created so that generated power is not wasted and supplied to power-starved places, he added, urging people to change mindset for faster development and develop civic sense for making villages tourist friendly. 
Siru Small Hydro Electric Project will supply power to Kamba, Aalo and surrounding villages and excess power generated will be injected into the power-grid. DCM Media Cell
