ITANAGAR, Jun 22: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Monday inaugurated the 80-metre span double lane arch bridge with footpath over Poma river at Jollang and a 33.50-metre height protection wall at ESS sector here in the Capital.
The alternative road near ESS sector which is the  lifeline of Capital Complex was closed for the last 2 years and its opening is expected to bring respite to the commuters from traffic congestion during peak hours. Congratulating the PWD engineers, contractors and denizens of the capital region on completion of the bridge and opening of the alternative road, Mein said that despite various problems due to Covid-19, the inauguration of the arch bridge is an achievement of the state government which prioritises development. “We cannot stop our developmental activities due to the pandemic and have to learn to live with it and carry on with daily economic activities,” he said, stressing on timely execution of works taken up in the capital region and maintenance of their quality. “Itanagar is our capital and the government will leave no stone unturned to ensure its all-round development and fulfil the aspirations of denizens,” Mein added.
The DCM was accompanied by Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso during inauguration of the protection wall at ESS sector and Doimukh MLA Tana Hali Tara while inaugurating the arch bridge at Jollang.
Commissioner PWD Kaling Tayeng, Secretary PWD YW Ringu, Chief Engineers Atup Lego and Katung Wahge and BJP National Council Member Tame Phassang were among others present during the inaugurations. DCM Media Cell
