ITANAGAR, Nov 19:  In a significant initiative towards documentation of cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein held a meeting with the Secretary  Research,  Dani Salu, Director Research, Batem Pertin and German Psychiatrist (MD), Anthropologist & Research Scholar, Dr Gerhard Heller here today.
Mein directed the Secretary Research to expedite the research work in connection with the project, ‘Audio – Visual Documentation of Cultural Heritage of Mishmi Tribes of Arunachal Pradesh’ especially on the indigenous healing practice of Idu Mishmi tribe.
Mein said that the project was announced in his budget speech and also reflected in the departmental SADA 2018-19. He asked the department to complete the formalities of signing an agreement with Dr Heller immediately and let start the work soon. He also asked the department to expedite the project on Digital Museum in the State Capital which would showcase the rich cultural heritage of all the tribes of the State.
It is pertinent to mention here that Dr Gerhard Heller, who hails from Heidleberg, Germany has been doing research in Arunachal Pradesh for the past 15 years. He has documented traditional healing system of Idu Mishmi, Miju Mishmi, Digaru Mishmi, Monpa and Galo tribes and has travelled extensively in the State.
Secretary Research, Dani Salu informed that the project will be implemented in a transparent manner and completed within the stipulated time of two years. He also informed that the concept paper for the project on Digital Museum has already been submitted and it is in finalization.
