CHONGKHAM, Sep 20: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein today visited the Tai Khamti Singpho Museum-cum-Research Centre located here at the campus of Arunachal Pali Vidyapith Society.
Mein inspected the facility and took stock of the maintenance and renovation needs of the centre, the one of its -in kind in Namsai district. He was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner Namsai Bijoy Talukdar and a host of heads of various departments and other administrative officers. After inspecting the building he expressed his  desire to see the organisation regain its previous glory and  announced a grant of corpus fund and also asked to apply for grants-in-aid when apprised of the financial crunch. He instructed the Rural Works Department to immediately make a detailed estimate of the maintenance and renovation needs of the infrastructure in the campus especially the museum-cum-research centre and submit it for approval through the District Planning Board. 
Secretary of Arunachal Pali Vidyapith Society Indrajit Tingwa, briefed the Deputy Chief Minister regarding the issues and needs and a four-point memorandum was also submitted on the occasion for grant of funds for excursion, construction of boundary wall, internal roads, multi-activity cultural hall and staff barracks. DCM also visited Empong village and held a meeting with villagers, GBs, PRI members and listened to their grievances and assured them to look after their needs. Later in the evening, Mein kicked off the Brotherhood Trophy Football tourney organised by All Tai Khamti Singpho Students Union at the Mini Stadium, Chongkham. Lauding the efforts of the organisation, Mein called upon various organizations of the district to join hand with the government to wage war against rampant drug use in the district.
He added that to promote sports and games in the district he would request the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Sports and Youth Affairs, Kiren Rijiju to sanction a state-of-the-art stadium in Namsai district and asked the Namsai District Sports Authority to submit proposal at the earliest for further infrastructure development of Chongkham Mini Stadium.
