WAKRO, Mar 7: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein today met the family members of Balijan Krisikro, an ex-Anchal Chairperson of Wakro who is reportedly missing since February 15 somewhere from the Parshuram Kund area in Lohit district.
Expressing deep sorrow and solidarity to the grieving family members, Mein said government is extending all possible support in carrying out search operation and investigation.
He assured that no stone will be left unturned to unearth the cause behind the incident and informed that the case has been handed over to SIT and if necessary, it will be reinforced further to expedite the investigation. In a close-door meeting with DCs and SPs of Lohit and Namsai districts and few selected public leaders of the area, he called for intensifying the search operation beyond Lohit in Anjaw and Namsai. He also asked them to extend all support to the SIT in investigating the case from every angle so as to find out the clues at the earliest possible time.
SP Lohit D W Thongon informed that they received the first missing report of Balijan Krisikro on February 17 and a formal missing report was lodged by his son on February 18 and accordingly a Missing FIR No.02/2020 was registered in Wakro Police Station. “Since then the police and District Administration along with local people had been intensively carrying out search operation and also a lookout notice of had been sent to all the SPs in India through Police Headquarters, Itanagar”, SP informed. He further divulged that an additional force of one section police personnel under the command of a Sub-Inspector stationed at Parshuram Kund for search operation had been formed on February 19 and the force is still stationed there till date. Call details of the missing person, some other mobile numbers and bank accounts were analysed and the dump data of the area where the missing person’s vehicle was parked were also collected and analysed. A rigorous search operation was carried out with the help of a sniffer dog of 20 Madras Regiment, Chowkham at Parshuram Kund area and people from all government departments, locals of Wakro and Medo also joined. Drones were used along the river sites and an aerial search with the help of helicopter was also carried out from Alubari bridge point along the river beds of Khado, Turung & Mawai areas and the helipad area of Parshuram Kund on February 23. A regular case of kidnapping was registered vide Wakro PS Case No.05/2020 U/S 365 IPC on 01/03/2020 and the case was handed over to SIT on March 2 last.
Meanwhile, the aggrieved family members have expressed their gratitude to the state government, District Police & Administration, paramilitary forces, local communities, public, student bodies and all well-wishers for standing with them in this hour of crisis.
