ITANAGAR, Jan 25: A coordination meeting was convened today by Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare, Joram Beda at its conference hall at Yupia to discuss the land acquisition matters to pave a way for construction of a greenfield airport at Hollongi under Balijan circle.
Representatives of All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU), All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA), All Papum Pare District Students Union (APPDSU), land owners, including other district officials attended the meeting.
The house had a threadbare discussion on the impending proposed inauguration of greenfield airport at Hollongi which has been delayed for decades since its foundation stone was laid by Shivraj Patil the then Home Minister Govt.of India due to compensation related issues.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of the project and categorically told the house present that Arunachal is the only state in the country which doesn’t have its own airport and urged the house present to cooperate with the district administration so that the all-important project see the light of the day.
Echoing the same sentiments, All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), General Secretary , Tobom Dai said that since it is a state project which once constructed will change the development trajectory, every stakeholder must cooperate for successful culmination of the project keeping in mind the future positive ramifications it will bring along with it.
ANSU Vice President, Tana Sushil Tara endorsing the AAPSU stand informed that ANSU strongly advocates and welcomes for early construction of the airport and requested the district administration to expedite the land acquisition process as early as possible.
The apex students’ body of the state AAPSU and influential student union All Nyishi Students’ Union both have wholeheartedly welcomed the early construction of the greenfield airport at Hollongi. DIPRO
