Namsai, Jun 26: A meeting on effective implementation of SWM Rules, 2016 in Namsai Urban areas was conducted today by the District Urban Development Agency (DUDA), Namsai here at Town Club under the chairmanship of DC-cum-Chairman, DUDA Dr, Tapasya Raghav, IAS.
The meeting has been convened with the aim of complying with the National Green Tribunal (NGT) orders with over 220 people participating. MLA 47-Namsai AC Chau Zighnu Namchoom urged the people of Namsai to  co-operate with the administration & the concerned department for proper implementation of SWM Rules, 2016.
Deputy Commissioner urged the people to segregate their waste at source and sought the initiative of giving out organic manures to the household that segregate their waste at source. She also informed that use of plastics is already banned in the district. EE-cum-Member Secretary, DUDA Er. Mosum Sema, highlighted the importance of SWM in the district through Power Point Presentation and video clippings of Success story on SWM at Leh-Ladakh. Tape Bagra (Rtd. IAS) also spoke on the occasion highlighting his experience and importance of waste segregation and its proper disposal.
Among others, SP Namsai, administrative officers, bazaar committee members, traders, colony leaders, NGOs & SHGs and officials of UD & Housing department attended the meeting.
