AALO, Mar 15: In an attempt to ban untraditional way of fishing in various rivers of West Siang, a daylong awareness meeting was convened by Bagra administration which was widely participated at Kamru, Higi Bagra on March 12 last.
The Aalo Town Peoples Welfare and Development Society led by its Chairman Kento Ete explained the need to maintain ecological balance to counter global warming that is causing health hazards. The team stressed the need for a blanket ban on untraditional methods of fishing and hunting to conserve aquatic life, birds and animals in the forest.
The society is also making all out effort to draw a uniform opinion on ban on fishing and hunting with neighbouring districts.
The district administration has also banned sale of fishing nets, wet and dry fishes in markets from the month of April to stop killing of fishes in the breeding season. DIPRO
