Khonsa, Feb 4: A meeting on Novel Coronavirus preparedness, surveillance and rapid response was conducted here at the General Hospital under the chairmanship of DMO Dr K. Mossang on February 3 last.
Medical Superintendent, Medical Officers, nurses and Paramedical staff were present in the meeting.
Dr Palash Rakshit presented a Power Point on Novel Coronavirus, its transmission and safety measures to be taken. DMO highlighted at length about the virus and gave an account of the current scenario.
As a part of preparedness efforts, a host of proposals were put forward for perusal which include identification of the District Surveillance Unit as the Novel Coronavirus Control Cell for Tirap district and creation of an isolation ward in the newly constructed Trauma Centre for treatment of suspected cases. Medicine Specialist Dr M. Gammeng, has been assigned as Treatment Protocol In-charge leading a team of all Medical Officers. Surveillance and response will be done by all MOs, nurses, Paramedical staff under supervision of DMO. Information, Education & Communication (IEC) will be carried out by all vertical programmes and the DSO, DVBDCPO, DTO under guidance of DRCHO will sensitize people and school children through RBSK team.
