ITANAGAR, May 8:Commissioner (Home and law) and link officer to Commissioner Health and Family Welfare, GS Meena has called for unified effort from all developing partners departments including health to ensure success of Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight from May 29 to June 9 next, while addressing the state level steering committee on Intensified Diarrhoea control fortnight today.
He suggested for creating awareness and said awareness activities should be continuous process and school students should be involved and motivated to create awareness among themselves and their family members. He asked the health department to work in close coordination with PHED to ensure where water borne disease like diarrhoea is prevalent is prevented and directed the DC’s of all the districts to lead the IDCF to ensure no diarrhoeal death occurs in the state.
Underscoring the importance of ASHA and AWW, he emphasised to mobilize them in best possible way and advocated for institutional and door to door interpersonal communication to create awareness about diarrhoea.
Mission Director (NHM) Dr Tapasya Raghav elaborating on the IDCF activities to be undertaken during the fortnight, informed that the main activities during the fortnight include generating awareness activities, Diarrhoea management service like provision of ORS Zinc Corner, ORS distribution and maximum promotion of hand washing technique, sanitation and safe drinking water. She also informed that to ensure success of IDCF, mapping of area will be done and flood affected areas which are very prone to contamination will be given more focus. For difficult terrain special drive will be under taken, she added.
Director family welfare, K Lego requested the stakeholders and all the development partner departments to extend their full support and provide all the necessary data and service to achieve 100% success of IDCF.
