Fulfilling his pledge of equipping health sectors under Lungla constituency with quality drugs and sophisticated equipment during his annual constituency development tour in November last, Lungla MLA Jambey Tashi on Friday handed over medicines and medical equipment worth Rs 15 Lakhs procured at his own expense, to Tawang DMO Dr. Wangdi Lama.
Earlier, Jambey Tashi and Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) chairman Jalley Sonam, launched an ambulance dedicated for the labourers of the region.
Thereon, Tashi, who is also the Parliamentary Secretary for RWD cum SDE addressed the mega awareness camp of registered workers of Tawang District under APB & OCWWB.
Terming the labour community as the backbone of progress and development, Jambey said that one cannot visualize of a vibrant society without them.
“Their contribution to society is humongous and the government has constantly rewarded them with multiple benefits and welfare schemes on priority, since the inception of the labour welfare board. The government under Chief Minister Pema Khandu has enhanced the salary of skilled and unskilled casual and contingency workers and plans are on to regularize them tenure-wise to WC on seniority basis", Jambey informed.
Further, he called on the denizens to prioritize social issues over individual and personal benefits and work hand in glove for the upliftment of society.
Thereafter, Jalley Sonam, stressed on departments for timely deposit of labour cess calling on stringent actions against the defaulters. He also urged the beneficiaries to avail the benefits of the ambulance free of cost in case of accidents, delivery or emergency by contacting Lumla administration headed by Lumla ADC.
Ojing Darung, Labour Commissioner Cum Secretary, imparted awareness about the procedures of registration under the board as per government norms and rules while Phurpa Tsering, Registering Officer, highlighted about various schemes and underlined statutory and non statutory benefits being provided by the Board to the registered workers/ labours under the board.
Finally, Jambey Tashi along with Jalley Sonam,
distributed blankets, solar lamps, raincoats and gum boots etc, under the initiative of APB & OCWWB to 500 registered workers.
