ITANAGAR, Aug 2: The Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalist (APUWJ), the Arunachal Electronic Media Association (AEMA), and the Arunachal Press Club (APC) has expressed its gratitude to the Pema Khandu-led government for fulfilling one of its long-pending demands.
The state government, in a recent notification, has approved treating the accredited journalists at par with the ‘Group A’ officer in all the state government accommodations such as IBs, Circuit Houses, Tourist Lodges, Bhawans and Guest Houses spread across the country.
Earlier, the media bodies on several occasions had approached the successive state governments for the same but in vain. With the recent notification, Arunachal Pradesh is one the last states in the country to implement this provision for the accredited journalists.
Meanwhile, the press organisations have also expressed hope that its remaining demands which include hike in government advertisement rate, implementation of Majithia Wage Board, and advertisement policy for electronic and digital media etc will be taken care of at the earliest. Newsdesk
