Doimukh, Dec 2: Health & Family Welfare Minister, Alo Libang, today launched Matru Vandana Saptah under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana with the theme towards building a healthy nation - Surakshit Janani, Vikshit Dharini at Doimukh.
Addressing the audience at Welly Comple, Libang informed that MVS is being celebrated across the nation December 2-8 next in all districts, blocks and villages  and it aims to enroll all eligible beneficiaries especially pregnant women and lactating mothers so that no one is left behind. He also informed that the scheme provides Rs.5000 directly into the bank account of women in three installments though direct benefit transfer for first child.  
He also said the department of Women and Child Development is working relentlessly in improving maternal health and child development in the state. However to make it a success all round efforts from every section of society  is equally important to create more awareness on importance of maternal and child  health and nutrition at grassroots level so that all eligible beneficiaries are enrolled under the scheme, the minister added.
He appealed all stakeholders including Goan Buras and village level workers to take part in the celebration with full enthusiasm and sensitize the people across the district to avail the benefits under the scheme. He also requested the Health Department and WCD to work in close co-ordination with each other to make the celebration successful in the district.  Later on, he also distributed nutrition baskets to pregnant and lactating mothers on the occasion.

MLA Tana Hali Tara also requested WCD and health department to sensitize the people in remote areas so that they can also avail the benefits of the scheme.
Earlier, Tokmem Pertin Loyi, Director WCD department in her key note address highlighted the importance of Matru Vandana Saptah.
To mark the day, a running race competition was flagged off where   women including AWWs enthusiastically participated at general ground Doimukh.
