ITANAGAR, Nov 26: Renowned author and former Bureau Chief of the BBC, New Delhi, Mark Tully is among the literary luminaries- Ananya Guha, Dhruba Hazarika, Mitre Phukan, Rita Chowdhury, Ravinder Singh and bilingual writer Srutimala Duara who will participate in the three-day literature festival scheduled to be held on November 28-30.
The multi-disciplinary and multilingual event which will be hosted at the DK convention hall is being organized by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).
Announcing this at a press conference, Director, DIPR, Obang Tayeng said the purpose of the event is to popularize the value of literature so that communities, as well as writers and authors keen on exploring more of literature, can experience, understand problems and how they can contribute to preserving the art, languages, culture, history and literature of a culturally rich state like Arunachal.
He continued that the festival will also offer an opportunity to enthusiastic writers of the state to learn and interact with regional and distinguished wordsmiths from across mainland India.
“The three-day long program will include literature talks, conversations, panel discussions, poetry citations, readings, workshops, exhibitions and events for college students and school children too,” he further added.
Deputy Director, IPR, Denhang Bosai said that the festival, which is a first of its kind initiative of the department, aimed to inspire creativity and create a platform for all forms of literature, culture and heritage to promote aesthetics in society along with independence of thought and action.
He further hoped that the platform will not only encourage new ideas and their dissemination but also offer intellectual exchanges with contemporary literary stalwarts.
Former governor of Arunachal Pradesh, General JJ Singh and Government spokesperson and Minister IPR, Bamang Felix are expected to participate in the event as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
