ITANAGAR, Apr 24: A copy of an FIR doing the rounds in social media from the Wakro circle of Lohit district has created a panic situation today. Wakro is the same circle where the first COVID-19 positive case of Arunachal Pradesh was detected.
An FIR lodged by the Wakro Block of Cultural and Literary Society of Mishmi (CALSOM) stated that one Ajim Uddin alias Md. Sultan came to Wakro from Tinsukia , Assam on March 14 last but he evaded quarantine and to do so he was staying at Wakro under a fake identity. He was staying with his two colleagues Md Anwarul Haque and Zakir Hussain Kazi, both shopkeepers at Wakro.
Suddenly on April 21 last, the health of Ajim Uddin deteriorated and he was referred to a hospital at Tinsukia from the Community Health Center, Wakro for further medical treatment but he passed away today, stated CALSOM in the FIR. The organization further alleged that he might have been a COVID-19 patient and died due to the virus as he had evaded the Standard operating procedure.
However, clarifying on the misconception, Superintendent of Police –Lohit DW Thungon informed that the deceased was tested for COVID-19 at IMCR Dibrugarh on Thursday last and the test result was negative.
'Everything is fine and under control,' the SP said further appealing the people not to panic and follow all the SOPs.
