CHONGKHAM, May 2:A person was found dead in mysterious condition near an irrigation channel at Empong village, Chongkham under Namsai district on May 1st last. The deceased has been identified as Chow Govinda Manang, a local resident.
The body was first spotted by local villagers who later informed family members and then alerted the Police. An FIR was also registered at Chongkham Police Station (PS) by family members later in the afternoon.
Meanwhile when contacted, Chongkham Officer in-charge (OC) D. Singpho informed that Police found the deceased lying face down with his left ear chopped off and serious injury marks on the left side of the head.
“The dead body has been sent for autopsy at general hospital and investigation is underway. As of now, no arrests have been made,” the OC added.
Meanwhile strongly condemning the incident, North East Human Right Organization (NEHRO) in a memorandum submitted to Deputy Commissioner has demanded early arrest of the murderers and sought exemplary punishment. It also extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
