ITANAGAR, Mar 25:

 

The first edition of “Arunachal Handicapped Idol Season 2017-18” for persons living with disability kicked off here today at Siddhartha Hall, Itanagar with its inauguration by state Home Minister, RWD etc Kumar Waii in a befitting ceremony this evening.

Altogether six contestants are participating in the event, which is organized under the banner of Arunachal Handicapped Youth Welfare Society (AHYWS).

Inaugurating the event, Waii said that disability should not be treated as a sin in society rather we need to extend support to PwD in their day to day work in ending stigma for healthy growth of society.

Asserting that all human beings is born for a purpose in this world and have to leave this mortal world someday, Wai  encouraged the special children mentioning that they are no different from the rest.

Assuring to provide assistance and help if needed, Dr. Kire applauded the initiatives of the organizing committee and hoped for grand success of the programme.

 Also responding to memorandum submitted by the committee for construction of playground of handicapped community, Waii assured to pursue the matter with the Chief Minister.

 

Guest of honour, Social Worker Ha Tatu said that a person living with disability can also do everything like a normal person and the only need of the hour is support and blessing for every individual of society.

The final is expected to be held in the second week of April.
