Roing, Apr 15: The first phase of the nationwide lockdown to control the Covid-19 pandemic had passed off successfully in Lower Dibang Valley district.

 

The people are obeying the lockdown rules and maintaining social distancing norms and the DA had implemented the measures by appointing nodal officers for tracking and observing people under home quarantine, started home delivery of essential rations, appointed Medical Officers and ASHA workers for educating people in villages, directed the construction agencies and contractors to feed labourers etc. Till date, there are 247 people under home quarantine of which 211 have completed the 14-day quarantine and have been asked to undergo a further 14-day tenure. There are 13 people under quarantine facilities in the district and a total of 15 such quarantine facilities have been identified in the district with a capacity to accommodate 830 persons for the period after the lockdown is lifted. The DA will be holding a meeting with the elected representatives, CBOs, NGOs, students’ organisations etc to discuss the modalities that have been worked out to accommodate and quarantine the returnees. One isolation centre with a capacity of 14 beds has also been set up.

 

Under the economic welfare measures, support of 5 kg rice and 1 kg pulses from the SDRF fund for those who have lost their livelihoods/stranded have been provided to 462 persons. These are the people who do not hold ration cards and 53 have been provided shelter in a relief camp set up here with all necessary basic needs like medical aid, food and drinking water etc. 

 

Under the Pradhan Mantri Samman Yojana of providing Rs.2000 to beneficiaries on a quarterly basis, a total of 5513 beneficiaries have been identified in the district with 4133 receiving the first instalment, 3660 the second, 1423 the third and 11 receiving the fourth instalment. Under PMJDY, a total of 6230 women beneficiaries under SBI Roing have been provided an amount of Rs.500 till April 6 and under PMGKY a total of 19709 PHH and  3344 AAY beneficiaries have been provided with benefits. 

 

Under PMUY, out of 2209 beneficiaries in the district, 65 have been provided free LPG cylinders and for the rest a process of transferring the amount into their bank accounts is underway. Under the NFSA to provide free 5 kgs of food grain per month to all PHH and AAY ration card holders for 3 months, rice for the month of April will be distributed along with the normal quota of rice to all ration card holders from April 17 during the earmarked rice days. 

 

The district is all set for implementing the second phase of the lockdown till May 3. DIPRO
