YINGKIONG, Mar 13: The draw of lottery for effectuating women reservation in Gram Panchayat and ZPM seats including that of GP Chairperson in Upper Siang district was held in presence of various political party representatives and prominent persons here at the conference hall of DC office on March 12 last.
DC/DEO(PR) Taper Pada informed that as per provisions of the APPR Act and APPR (Delimitation of Constituencies and Reservation of Seats for Women) Rules, 33% of total seats in the two tiers of the PRIs including GP Chairperson (GPC) offices in respect of the district have to be determined for the upcoming PR election. He also informed that the district has 10 ZPM, 233 GPM and 67 GPC seats.
After the draw, it was found that women reservations for ZPM seats have gone to the 3-Mariyang, 6-Jengging and 10-Komkar segments. DIPRO
