NIRJULI, Apr 13: Like every year, Longte festival was celebrated with traditional fervor here today at  Nyikum Niya ground.
Nyishi Festival Council (NFC) General Secretary Amit Bengia officially inaugurated the three day festival  by hoisting the festival flag amidst huge gathering.
He also advocated to make the state clean and green for a healthy living. He appealed one and all to make celebration of traditional festivals plastic-free. He requested the local celebration committees to ensure proper regulation of the prices of food and beverages served in the food stalls. He also said that no meat of wild animals and birds should be sold in the festival centers.    
While highlighting the objectives and aims of the festival, NFC research documentation wing member Bengia Kabnang said that main philosophy behind the celebration is to barricade the  domain of evil spirits and human beings. The main ceremonial event will be held at the same venue on April 15. The traditional games & sports, food stalls part of the festival will continue till April 20 next as part of post Longte celebration, he added.  
The festival is being celebrated simultaneously at Nyokum Lapang ground, Itanagar.
